International Service Trips

Making a difference abroad

Annual service trips began in 2006 with two nursing students — growing to 28 nursing students by 2015 — and in the past, have taken place in the Dominican Republic and Haiti.

In recent years, Nursing and Social Work majors have traveled together to Jamaica during spring break as part of an interdisciplinary elective course called Interprofessional Global Outreach. The goal of the course is to prepare future healthcare providers and professionals to work together as a team to improve patient and population healthcare. In 2024, Public Health and Psychology majors also visited Jamaica for their elective, Promoting Global Health Through Service.

In summer 2024, Occupational Therapy faculty and students, and a GMercyU alumna, embarked on 12-day medical mission trip to Kenya with Chariots for Hope, Cornerstone Church of Skippack, and additional healthcare providers from the community.
